New Delhi, September 26, 2025 — The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced significant updates regarding the ongoing Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) 2025, along with other major exam-related developments. The first tier of the CGLE 2025, which had about 28 lakh applicants, has largely been completed. However, a fire incident at one exam center in Mumbai on September 26th has resulted in the rescheduling of a shift for affected candidates.

CGLE 2025: Exam Update and Rescheduling

Out of the 28 lakh candidates who had applied for the CGLE, approximately 13.5 lakh appeared in the exam, which was conducted across 255 centers in 126 cities, spanning 45 shifts over a 15-day period. SSC has confirmed that 18,920 candidate feedback submissions were received via the Candidate Feedback Portal. While the majority of candidates faced no major disruptions, some reported technical glitches during the exam. Following a thorough analysis of the digital footprints, the affected candidates have been rescheduled to retake their exam on October 14, 2025.

Additionally, operational and venue-related issues flagged by candidates will be closely examined. The Commission assured that such feedback will be taken into account when selecting centers for future exams.

Piloting Laptop-Based Testing

In a notable advancement, the SSC piloted laptop-based testing in this year’s CGLE. Thousands of candidates participated in this new testing mode, which, if scaled up, could allow for greater flexibility in test center availability and better accommodation for a larger pool of candidates. This shift to digital testing is also seen as a step towards modernizing the examination process, ensuring smoother, faster assessments.

Aadhaar Authentication and Security Measures

As part of the exam’s security enhancements, Aadhaar-based identity verification was implemented throughout the process. This included the use of Aadhaar Face Authentication during the candidate’s application submission, reinforcing the integrity of the exam’s identity checks.

Special Locations and Exam Integrity

The exam made history by reaching remote areas like Kavaratti in Lakshadweep and Leh, ensuring access for candidates in these distant locations. An impressive 93% of candidates were able to take the exam at one of their chosen centers, a testament to SSC’s commitment to providing accessible exam centers nationwide.

However, during the course of these exams, there were incidents of malpractice that prompted swift action. Several individuals were apprehended by law enforcement agencies for attempting to misuse provisions for persons with disabilities (PwBD) by submitting fake documents. Additionally, some candidates attempted remote access hacks during the exam. SSC has confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway to analyze such cases. Those found guilty of clear malpractice will be debarred from further opportunities. In cases where evidence is unclear, candidates will be given a chance to clear their record by appearing for a re-exam on October 14, 2025.

Upcoming Challenges and Exam Schedules

Candidates for CGLE have also been informed that the Challenge for Questions related to the selection posts exam has been activated. A similar challenge for CGLE 2025 questions will commence around October 15, 2025. In the meantime, applications for the Delhi Police Examinations and SI CPO 2025 have opened, while the Constable GD 2026 application window is expected to open in November.

Looking ahead, the Tier 1 exam for CHSL 2025 will start in the fourth week of October, followed by exams for SI CPO 2025, JE, and MTS. Specific dates for these exams will be released soon.
